See what WARDOGS has confirmed about approved hosts, self-hosting, server browsing, RCON, launch controls and economy limits before renting anything.
The verified launch answer
BULKHEAD says individuals will be able to rent WARDOGS community servers through approved hosting companies at launch. Only two providers had passed its performance and security requirements when the August statement was published.
The announcement did not name those providers in the evidence checked here. Do not preorder a server merely because a seller uses the WARDOGS name; wait for an official provider link.
Self-hosting is not available at launch
BULKHEAD says it will not release the server code for unrestricted hosting. That means a home server, arbitrary VPS, Docker image or bare-metal install should be treated as unavailable unless a later official post changes the policy.
The stated reasons are performance standards and security around a game that connects community servers with central progression and economy systems.
Expect limited day-one controls
The announced first controls are map and mode selection. More administration options are intended to grow over time, subject to the economy. That is not evidence for day-one mods, unrestricted rule changes, custom progression, plugins or every familiar RCON command.
An RCON tool is in development, but the statement does not promise a release date or command list. Evaluate the product that exists at launch, not the planned admin surface.

Use the server browser carefully
WARDOGS uses a server-oriented multiplayer flow, and community servers should be identifiable before joining. At launch, verify the region, ping, official or community label, mode, player count and queue behavior in the live browser.
Economy-connected rules matter. A server setting may be restricted when it would undermine persistent cash or progression. Do not promise that earnings sync under every custom configuration until the client shows the rule.
Rent only after four checks
Confirm the provider from an official WARDOGS channel, the physical region, the advertised hardware or performance tier, and the refund terms. Then verify which controls are available on the purchase date.
If a listing claims public server files, unrestricted mods or guaranteed RCON before BULKHEAD publishes those features, treat the mismatch as a warning rather than an exclusive offer.
